Dear Professor Grey,
I am writing this letter to request your consideration for a position as a research fellow in the department. I am studying for an MSc in Conservation Biology at the University of Kent and when I saw the advertisement and the requirements it struck me that I would be the ideal candidate for such a position.
I have worked with several lecturers in the department both as a graduate and undergraduate. I especially enjoyed my work with Dr. Livingstone on the conservation of herring. I believe that my personality and prior personal knowledge of the faculty staff will make it easier for the department as I will need no orientation with the research being undertaken.
