How to write a friendship letter

June 13, 2011

Friendship letters are exchanged between friends and are personal in nature, hence very casual. You simply state your experiences and ask about your friend’s experiences. It has to be written straight from the heart and with a little originality, it can be transformed into a memoir to be treasured. Be sure to write the entire letter by hand and on a nice letterhead and not type it on the computer as this adds the personal touch.

Friendship letters begin with a casual greeting and gently enquire about the well being of the friend. You have to include information about yourself and also ask about your friend’s experience and life, this paves way for exchange of future letters. You should try and keep the letter short yet personal. You should try and avoid talking about anything controversial in these letters. You can end by expressing hope for receiving more of such letters.
