It is my pleasure to recognize the Emmanuel Rojo, downtown director for the Arts for Youth program. Tonight we honor him with the Silver Bell Award for outstanding service to this community’s young people.
Emmanuel started out as a kid who often found himself in hot water. We got to know each other well when he was 18 and I was the city’s police chief. But, Emmanuel was not meant for a life of delinquency. He was meant to recognize kids in trouble, teach them his passion for art, and turn those kids around. He has fulfilled this purpose again and again and the city of Vancouver appreciates him more than we can express.
Emmanuel Rojo, you are a true hero.
