Dear Arnold Den,

I am sorry to let you know that effective May 3, 2010, I shall be resigning from my position as a writer for your fine paper. Recent events in my life, specifically the death of my child, has been causing a lot of emotional and mental stress which I cannot possibly cope up with with all the demands of my job included. At this trying stage in my life, I ask for your consideration and acceptance despite the hard times the company is also experiencing.

I thank the company for giving me the opportunity to learn and grow more as a writer, and I do hope that it gets through these trying times. I have one last request, however. Perhaps you would be able to furnish me with a recommendation letter in case I ever decide to enter into the field or even the company again? Thank you very much for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Aseem
