Dear Alyssa Bethenny Lachey,

There is a nurse who has worked the halls of this hospital day and night since she was fresh out of nursing school. She has watched over patients and even over the doctors and nurses who worked along side her.

Madeline Eres is the epitmony of the word compassion. She freely gives love and understanding to those hurting and in need. That is why I am nominating her for the Edna G. Turnbuckle Award.

Madeline has worked on almost every floor of this hospital. She has watched over laboring mothers and newborn babies. She has cared for the severely injured or infirmed in the Trauma Ward. Once, she even cared for my own wife during a particularly difficult illness.

Never have I seen her be too tired to give to someone who asked. Her energy knows no bounds and there’s almost always a song on her lips.

There is no one I have known in my entire career as a doctor who was more deserving of an award rewarding compassion in medicine. Madeline Eres deserves the 2008 Edna G. Turnbuckle award.

Sincerely,

Hunor
